Guthrie Govan's debut solo album, Erotic Cakes is anything but a dissapointment. The album serves as a vehicle for this guitar virtuoso's musical ingenuity. Guthrie has truly stepped apart from the crowd with this album and set a new standard to others to strive for. The truly beautiful part of Guthrie's guitar style is that he never falls into a specific niche. He has no comfort zone and plays each song with the confidence and tact that it deserves. Erotic Cakes also stands out in the rhythm section as well, with excellent support by Seth Govan and Pete Riley throughout all tracks, letting Govan shine without anything holding him back.
