A wonderful quartet of progressive rock's top tier of musicians. Liquid Tension Experiment, comprising mostly of the members from Dream Theater except that Tony Levin replace John Myung on bass and vocals are unrepresented. The musicianship on this album is unparalleled by most of it's kind in the musical universe and deserves a place in any lover of progressive music's library. The album starts off with the driving and domineering Paradigm Shift with a masterful breakdown that truly demonstrated the group's ability to shift from a technical mayhem to driven melodies that effortlessly build back up to the fury of the introduction. The album completely shifts to a very masterfully crafted tune called osmosis that shows the breadth of the band's musical intelligence. After the initial eight songs of weaving back and forth between fast paced songs and slower melodies, the band engages in a 5 part "Three minute warning" jam session that truly is indescribable. Highly recommended.
